Como Agua para Chocolate

For all you guys who do not know…. Yes I know Spanish so this movie was wonderful!! I really liked the whole “star-crossed lovers” theme between Tita and Pedro. This was such a sad sort of Cinderella story where Tita finally did get what she wanted and then BOOM ROMEO AND JULIET. Pedro died and Tita kills herself…. I do not know how I felt about the fact that this movie combined all the really good love stories into one main one. I guess I really did like this movie though and I cannot get over the fact of how awful Tita’s mother is/was. Who tells their daughter that they will never marry and will stay home with mommy until she dies??? That is just completely messed up, I would have gone crazy too! There is a time in one’s life where we depart from our family and Tita did not have that chance through her family tradition. I just really do not know how I feel about Pedro marrying her sister. I understand WHY he did it, but just like Tita said…. “You should have just KIDNAPPED me.” That poor girl was suffering from her mother and Gertrude being gone and the baby dying and him marrying her in the first place!!! This is why guys should not make decisions without thinking more thouroughly… No offence my dears. D;
