Memories
I had a horrible realization while watching this movie - all of the memories I thought about when pondering the one I would choose after I died were just like this girl's. I thought about the con I just went to over the weekend, the time I went to Universal's Islands of Adventure for my birthday, going to London and Paris, Hawaii, winning a national championship in bible quizzing...granted a lot of reasons why I hold these memories dear is because of the super fun times I had with my family, but in the end they still feel a little superficial. They aren't anything like the woman who was remembering dancing for her brother in the red dress, the man who just wanted a cigarette from the American soldiers, or even Watanabe and his wife, who both picked a moment on the same park bench.
Honestly at the end of the day I don't know how you can just pick one. One memory is not a life, and living with only a piece of the picture seems so wrong. However, the pieces that most of the people picked in the movie were so rich that I couldn't condemn them for their choice to pick one, but I just don't feel like I could pin point a moment like that in my own life.
