Yojimbo the ronin

So on Thursday I watched the film Yojimbo which is about a ronin who comes to a troubled town by gang wars.  While he is there he decides that he will stop the two main gangs in the town.  Now from there it gets interesting as the hero (who doesn't have a real name) comes up with various plots to kill them.  So the ronin through out the film pits the gangs against each other by getting the gangs to come out on the streets to fight, having them collect hostages and even just destroying the businesses.  The plot is fairly simple with a weird sub plot of one of the gang lords holding a woman as a slave from her family that the ronin rescues.  The fighting when there are fights are pretty quick but show that the ronin is very skilled.  When they do show blood there is a lot so it creates more of a hilarious effect then anything else.  The version of the film that was shown to me was all in Japanese with sub titles.  First of all I disappointed because I wanted to see some bad voice dubbing.  The second is that the film was good in my opinion so it was worth reading throughout the film.  Third the film is a good starter if your interested in getting started in Samurai movies and if you like Westerns you will probably like it.  Now for the biggest outrage I had with the movie is that not every gang member is killed on the one side.  The hero just kills one of the big bad guys and walks off into the sunset feeling good about himself.  So if there is a sequel where he comes back and finishes the job then this complaint is withdrawn but until then it's a big flaw to me.
