Hallelujah
When a movie can make me salivate over food that I know I would never eat out of my own free will, that's when you know its done a good job. I would never eat a quail's head (though I have eaten a chicken neck before), but the look on the general's face as he bit into it made me want to join in as well. I really love food, so seeing the general absolutely enjoy every bit he had reminded me of myself when I get a meal that's really good. I like how the food sort of brought the town together - it might have mostly been the wine, but I think if the meal had not had that special magic that good food has, not even a lot of alcohol would have been able to lighten the moods and the disagreements between many of the towns members. Food is something that, when done well, can speak to the soul and change our attitudes. If only we could have food like that offered here on campus - I think we would all be much harder workers and stop complaining so much. Okay, maybe that's not true, but do you think he administration would believe it if that's how we presented it to them? I can only hope :)

Ha! Actually, I want to see this experiment done. Feed some college students on awesome, solid food, and feed some on simple, decent food, and see if it changes attitudes. Maybe it would...
