King of the Kaiju

Gojira was fun. Has it aged? Yes. Is it the best example of film ever? No. But its fun and it honestly tried, which is better than some. I mean, I honestly felt like the new Godzilla movie was just a grab to get money from long-time Godzilla fanboys (though I admit it was well shot and the effects were gorgeous - the story was worse than this one though). One thing I give this real credit for is showing the aftermath of Gojira's destruction - families torn apart, death, and serious injury. Normally movies gloss over things - large scale destruction to a city, caused both by the bad guys and the good guys trying to stop them, but in the end the good guys won so its okay no matter how many people we didn't see undoubtedly died. This movie took the effort to show the people and try and make us care about what had happened. Although, I think that goes hand in hand with the movie's anti-nuclear message.
