Sansho and Joseph?

I actually really enjoyed this movie, which was surprising because I knew the plot the whole time going into it. I think one of the reasons though is because I found some parallels between it and my favorite figure in the Bible, Joseph. The story of someone from a fairly well off family being sold into slavery, finding a way out and coming back to those who had treated them poorly in a much higher position. Of course, they have their differences too - Zushio had a darkness inside of him that occasionally appeared, while Joseph never did anything wrong while he was a slave and wrongfully imprisoned - or at least nothing that the author of Genesis felt worth mentioning. I mean I feel like if he had branded an old man for trying to escape Potiphar's household it would have come up somewhere. But Zushio did appear to change, hopefully for the better, and his confrontation of Sansho in his new governor's garb was immensely satisfying, and the fact that he dealt with Sansho relatively fairly - I mean he could have killed him or something.
