Chef

This was a really good movie featuring familiar faces, good looking food, a fun story, and some awesome music.

I noticed that the cast had some of the three main characters from Iron Man 2 which was cool to see. I like seeing actors in small movies that usually have one trademark character, like RDJ or Sofia Vergara.

I enjoyed the script a lot not only because of the words they used, but how the actors spoke them. It was kind of like a fast paced speech. It made it come across very mature and adult and not dumb. And seriously, we have to give that kid some credit. He was so good. I usually hate when theres one kid and everyone else is an adult because either the kid causes trouble or ruins the whole movie. This one didn't. I think the script writers did a fantastic job, as well as the actors. The story was great and wasn't over complicated. I was sitting there waiting for something terrible to happen in the middle of the movie because I'm not used to stories that have minor conflict and resolves throughout the whole movie evenly. It's nice to see movies like that.

I give this movie a thumbs up. (by the way, I would like to eat all the food in that movie)

The Book of Life

"Woah." That was the first word that came out of my mouth when the movie started.

"Holy crap" was what I said throughout the whole movie because of the BEAUTIFUL animation. No offense to Disney, but Reel FX studio has a good advantage right now. It was beautiful all the way around.

I really liked The Book of Life. I liked everything about it honestly. The one thing I noticed and appreciated the most was the faster paced story line. I know that it can be frustrating in some ways because you want more of a backstory but thinking in the mind of a child, it was really great. Sometimes I hate how movies drag out certain parts and make it difficult to pay attention all the time. Since I am a child at heart (and have ADD) dragging out parts that don't need to be dragged out make me angry. I do have to agree that yes, some parts could have been better explained and could have had a little more to them, but it still kept my attention and interested the whole time.

I am a music lover and it plays a huge role in my life, so the fact that the music was really good made me SUUUPPPPERRR happy. I just jfdksjafdsafdjafjjfdksjafdjsfds if you know what I mean. It was well done.

The Day of the Dead is also such a cool holiday to me even though its not a part of my culture, so it was cool to see more about it.

I liked how the comedy didn't over power the story and the meaning. The love part kind of did, but you really can't get a movie without it anymore right?

Overall the animation was beautiful, the music was great, and the story was pretty good. I saw it again the next day and had to watch it in 3D and it kind of ruined it. 3D movies shouldn't be a thing anymore honestly.

More like Like Son, Like Father

Last night's movie was way better than I was expecting it to be. It was a beautiful and touching movie with everything a good movie should have; conflict, character development, cuteness, joy, sadness, anger, laughter, and little kids that will melt your heart. I really liked the character development, and I think you all agree. I wanted to punch that one dad in the face, then slap him and tell him to get his life together.

The contrast between the two families is what really made the movie though. Those kinds of families are everywhere, and can somewhat be relatable. I come from a family that likes hard work and success, but also has fun in the process. I know that's how Im going to want my family to be.

The movie should really be called Like Son, Like Father because the father ends up learning from his son. I like the concept that the adults learn from the kids and not the other way around. Kids can be smarter than adults sometimes. Adults over think everything, and worry constantly, always concerned about something. Children live life a minute at a time not knowing what is in front of them, they don't worry about the big things. It sucks that worrying about the future starts at a young age nowadays. I mean, they are already informing kids on college. We just had a kids day here at HU telling kids about their future. As I recall there were kindergardeners here. KINDERGARDEN???? And yeah, I know that's not all they did here, but still. When I was that young I thought my future was going to be about becoming a principle so I can allow roller skates in school. My priorities were sorted out very well at that point in time.

I really did like this movie, and I will probably watch it again at some point in time (:

Spirited Away

I have to say that Spirited Away was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Not only did it make me think about life but it was funny and had heart.

The first thing that stood out to me was Chihiro's personality. At the beginning she was rather hesitant and grumpy like any 10 year old should be. But throughout the movie, she starts to grow from that 10 year old personality and turns into someone much older. In certain moments in the movie you could still tell that she was still only 10. In a lot of ways she reminded me of Lilo from "Lilo and Stitch". I honestly thought it was the same voice actor at first. Both of them are young and full of something we wish we still had.

Even though that the film had its moments where it was hard to follow, and I was close to falling asleep, I still enjoyed the plot, character development, and the artwork of the animation. Japanese animation is really interesting to me because it looks so simple, but there are so many good details. And all the characters are super cute. Particularly these little guys!

And now I finally understand where this gif came from!
